If you are a single business owner or have a large company with a message you want the world to know, then media training may be the next step. If there is a product, service or research findings that needs promoting, media training can get the message out strategically for all platforms.
You may have heard of people possessing “It Skills,” the perfect blend of speech, voice and attractive on-camera imagery. The truth is, those skills can be taught and many media professionals and hopefuls have taken training. Elizabeth Peterson has been a speech therapist and speech coach for over 20 years and has operated her practice in Denver for over 15. She knows the ideal behaviors to position media professionals to radiate confidence and leadership through skilled speech, voice and non-verbal communication skills and body language usage.
Our media training teaches your staff members how to build their image by delivering professional sounding speech, and to use a voice that is strong and pure in tone. Also other key media factors to deliver the company’s message with confidence, credibility, and unquestionable leadership.
1. Engaging and Interesting Intonation
We begin by teaching how to speak using professional business melody similar to the way broadcasters, executives and political leaders speak with crisp pronunciation, controlled rate of speed and with persuasion. This method creates better energy behind the message, and captivates a listener’s attention based on how pitch tones and patterns are strategically applied. Speaking with this type of business melody, known as intonation, is a powerful technique for creating an effective media presence. Messages will be clear and delivered with credibility and confidence.
2. A Stronger and More Powerful Voice
Part of what enhances confidence and credibility, is to speak from the optimal pitch range for producing vocal tones that are strong, rich and more vibrant. Studies show that people who speak with a soft, thin voice, speak with a higher pitch, or place their voice too high in the nasal cavity are not perceived as credible when compared to those who speak in lower and stronger vocal tones. Speaking from the optimal pitch range will also improve projection and compete against background noise that often occurs in media settings. A stronger and more powerful voice along with professional business intonation will enhance the quality and credibility of the speaker in the media.
3. Diaphragm Breathing
Learning how to speak from the diaphragm will position speakers to communicate more effectively by having a full breath. Speed will be better controlled and the speaker will be able to organize and formulate their thoughts better by speaking from a full breath. Speaking from a diaphragm breath allows intonation to be smooth and controlled, while maintaining an open and relaxed throat for stronger vocal tones, thus allowing the speaker to remain focused and more comfortable.
4. Body Language
Non-verbal language communicates many messages. We will teach you how to stand in front of the camera and look confident (even when feeling uncomfortable). How people use their hands, point their feet, use facial expressions, use their tone of voice and use other speech and body actions, send messages. We will ensure the right messages are being sent.
5. Media EssentialsWe will then focus on other key media points such as clear and concise messaging strategies, the media interview, eliminating distracting filler words from your speech and other media topics related to your unique needs.
